It is an honor to serve as your principal for the 2026-2027 school year, and to be part of this incredible school community. I have proudly served the Rialto community for the past 4 years and have dedicated the last 16 years to education.

My journey in education began as an AVID tutor and later a classroom teacher, where I discovered my passion for helping students learn and grow. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the excitement on a student’s face when they master a new skill or experience that moment when everything finally clicks. Those moments continue to inspire me and have shaped my belief that every student can succeed when they are provided with the right support, encouragement, and opportunities. I firmly believe that elementary school provides the foundation for lifelong success, and I am committed to ensuring every child receives the care, guidance, and education they need to thrive.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles, including AVID tutor, Classroom Teacher, Testing Coordinator, Department Chair, Dean of Academic Assessments, Dean of Academics and Instruction, Assistant Principal, and now Principal. Each of these experiences has deepened my understanding of teaching, learning, assessment, and leadership, while reinforcing my commitment to creating a school environment where all students are supported in reaching their full potential.

My educational journey has also played an important role in shaping who I am as an instructional leader and as a person. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Riverside, my Master’s degree in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles, and most recently, my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from California Baptist University. These experiences have expanded my understanding of education, strengthened my leadership practices, and deepened my commitment to creating equitable, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences for all students.

As your principal, my top priorities are ensuring every child feels safe, inspired to learn, and supported each day. I am committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive school community where students feel valued, families feel connected, and every child has the opportunity to succeed. I believe strong partnerships between our school, families, and community are essential to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

I value collaboration and welcome feedback from our students, families, and staff. I believe that when people work together, we can accomplish more and create a stronger, more successful school community. If you ever have an idea, question, or concern, please do not hesitate to reach out. My door is always open, and I appreciate the opportunity to listen, learn, and partner with you in supporting our students.

Outside of school, I am happily married to my husband and am the proud mom of two amazing boys. As the parent of an elementary school student myself, I see firsthand the important role teachers and school staff play in shaping a child’s life. This perspective has strengthened my commitment to ensuring every student feels known, supported, and encouraged to reach their highest potential.

David Yang has served as an assistant principal in Rialto Unified School District in Rialto since 2020. An educator for twenty years, his roles have spanned from high school Math/AVID teacher, head boys and girls basketball coach, head boys and girls golf coach, department chair to a teacher on special assignment. He earned his Teaching credential and Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton; and a Masters of Arts in Educational Administration from Concordia University.  David advocates for all students, particularly those that are a disadvantage. Having grown up as an undocumented immigrant of 15 years, his passion and moral imperative for immigrant families is a common thread for his work in and out of schools. He is one of the founding members of the California Association of Asian Pacific Leaders of Education (CAAPLE), a non-profit organization that supports AAPI+ students across the state of California and the school and district leaders who serve our students. 

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing golf, and exploring local restaurants with my significant other while supporting the businesses in our community.

Hello families, my name is Mr. Daniel Martinez, and I am your proud Program Specialist. I come to you with over a decade of service as a classroom teacher in Rialto Unified as well as experience with Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, School Site Council, Exceptional Grading Practices, Teacher Mentoring, and Departmental Leadership. I earned my Master of Education and teaching credential from the University of California, Riverside, with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from UCLA and a Master's in Applied Mathematics from the University of Southern California. I am grateful for the opportunity to join this community and work alongside students, families, teachers, and staff in supporting high-quality instruction and schoolwide systems that ensure student success and well-being. My educational philosophy is firmly rooted in the belief that all students come to school with a natural curiosity and a desire to learn, and it is the role of educators to protect, nurture, and expand that curiosity. Developing engaging learning experiences, setting clear expectations, and establishing consistent systems create the safety and routine students need to feel comfortable asking questions and taking academic risks, empowering them to grow as lifelong learners and individual problem-solvers.

Outside of school, I am a proud husband and father who enjoys spending time with my son and connecting with nature. We are on a lifelong mission to visit all stops within the National Park system.  I am also an avid reader of science fiction and history, but most importantly, I am a lifelong learner with an inquisitive mind and welcome any and all puzzles, games, or challenges. It is through productive struggles like these that we continue to learn and grow.
